Rapunzel Long Hair Goals
I used to have short hair, about shoulder length, and was always so frustrated that I felt like it was never growing! I changed a few things about my hair routine, and I am now constantly getting asked about how I grew it out. I don't use a lot of product, but there are a few things that I've done over the past year or so that I think have made a difference. Hopefully these tips are useful and can help get you the Rapunzel hair that we all dream of!
Take a daily vitamin
When I added this into my daily routine, I noticed the biggest difference. I personally don't get enough vitamins and minerals from just the food I eat. After checking with your doctor to see if it something that would be ok for you, I'd recommend taking some sort of hair and nail supplement to give your hair that extra help to grow as long as you want it. I personally prefer a prenatal vitamin because it is filled with nutrients I don't usually get, and it has helped both my hair and skin!
Only wash your hair twice a week
Not only will this save you time, but it will help you avoid using heat everyday that can lead to breakage. My best suggestion is to use dry shampoo every day, even the day you wash it, to keep your hair from looking greasy. It might take a while to get used to if you usually wash it everyday, but this has helped me avoid so much damage to my hair that it is definitely worth the adjustment period.
Avoid heat on the ends of your hair
The bottom of your hair has been through the most with dying, drying, curling, straightening, brushing... it's the most damaged and most fragile. Start blow drying from the top, then work your way down. Usually, the bottom of your hair will require less blow drying time at that point. You can also use a blow dry gel that will put a protective layer over your hair, reduce dry time, and add some volume to the finished product. When curling or straightening, avoid direct heat to the ends as much as possible! I'll be uploading a video tutorial soon to show you how I do this.
* Blondies - my secret to icey white blonde hair is FANOLO PURPLE SHAMPOO Be careful because it will tint your hair purple if left on for longer than a minute or two* I use this every time I wash my hair AFTER using regular shampoo. I recommend trying it on one little section first to see how your hair handles it.
Hopefully these three tips will get you started with growing your hair as long as the hair princess herself! If you have any questions, email me at hello@makeitminnie.com!

Thank you so much for this blog post! I seem to remember you talking about postpartum hair loss after you had Harper… I’m still taking my prenatal, have avoided straightening my hair at all (thanks quarantine), and am washing my hair 1-2x a week, but I feel like I’m going bald. I’m 4 months postpartum and it started about a month ago. Any tips specific to this? Thanks! 😊
